Mick Talty

Club member Mick Talty (a.k.a. "Central Branch") has sadly passed away. His funeral takes place at 11.00am on Tuesday 15th Sept 2009 (not Friday 11th as previously advertised), at Salisbury Crematorium. The funeral will be followed by a wake at The Bruce Arms, Easton Royal.

Pinkertons Toy Run - Saturday 15th December 2007

Many thanks to Pinkertons Motor Cycle Club for inviting us on their annual toy run to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. From the meeting place at Greenbridge Rugby Club we set off on an escorted tour of Swindon before arriving at the hospital, where we were greeted with mince pies and hot drinks.

Reading Toy Run - Sunday 9th December 2007

Wow, what am amazing day that was! Hundreds of bikes crammed into a car park in Reading at the start of the annual Reading Toy Run 2007. Many riders were dressed up, unsurprisingly Santa being the most popular costume. By the time we got to the front of the queue for the snack stand, it was almost time to head off. This was a ride-out with a difference. The police closed off the roads, and we rode straight through traffic lights all the way to Wokingham. Local people lined the streets and waved. When we got to the school we queued up to deliver our cargo of toys, and were rewarded with biscuits and a welcome hot drink. The mood of the day was friendly and the cause was worthwhile. I look forward to next year's event.

HOC National Rally in Filey, North Yorks - 21st-24th September 2007

Annual General Meeting - Thursday 19th July 2007

This year's AGM took place on Thursday 19th July at the Red Lion at Avebury. Key outcomes were:

Club nights will be held at the Red Lion on the second Tuesday of each month.
Next year's rally will be held at The Three Magpies at Sells Green.
Jim Peel-Cross stepped down as Chairman and took up the post of BMF Liason Officer.
Bob Mackenzie took over as Chairman.

Swindon Robins Speedway Race Night - Thursday 21st June 2007

A big thank you to Brian Watts (Safety Officer) and Alun Rossiter (Team Captain) for inviting us to the Swindon Robins vs. Poole Pirates race night on 21st June at Swindon Stadium. We had a fantastic time and as well as seeing all the racing we were shown around the judges' box and the pits. See the photos here. 2006

December run to the Sammy Miller Museum. Sunday 3rd Dec.

Despite horrendous weather the night before the run, we had a nice day, and the sun was shining the whole time we were riding! Sammy Miller's serve up a good Sunday lunch too. Five members joined the run. Thank you Ian for leading.

Guest speaker in November

Colin Reeve, the Wiltshire Police Biker Safety Officer, kindly came to our meeting on 16th November and spoke about Bikesafe and several current motorcycling issues, including the new EU licensing directive, motorcycle training, and highway engineering. Thank you Colin, and everyone who came along to listen and ask questions.
